In recent years, offshore engineering and construction of facilities based on seabed soils has become an increasingly important topic. The rapid emergence of offshore wind power has accelerated development of marine resources, particularly in those countries with large and potentially valuable coastlines and therefore, the strategic focus on fully utilizing marine resources has become a vital subject. In order to promote the comprehensive development and utilization of marine resources, to improve quality of marine geotechnical engineering and to meet more demanding construction requirements, it is necessary to develop a detailed understanding of the marine soil through modern and efficient ground investigation (GI). Cone penetration testing (CPT) is an advanced and rapidly developing technology in the field of marine GI. CPT not only provides accurate and precise geotechnical data but can be rapidly deployed. When combined with traditional, sampling led, marine geotechnical surveys, CPT allows for cost and time effective characterization of marine soils. Such investigation provides valuable information to engineers, designers and contractors for robust and cost-effective ground engineering and construction.
On April 12-13th and April 15-16th, 2019, the "2019 Offshore CPT and Geotechnical Testing Technology Seminar" will be held in Guangzhou and Hangzhou. The conference invites experts from NGI in Norway, Geolabs in the UK, Geomil in the Netherlands, and scholars from well-known local and overseas universities to share the latest research results and developments in offshore cone penetration testing technology and offshore geotechnical testing.
Professionals engaged in geotechnical survey, civil engineering and design, construction, soil sampling and testing as well those engaged in related scientific research are widely encouraged to attend and participate in the seminar!
