PS Logging for Gardline on the Five Estuaries Offshore Wind Farm
Our Manufacturer Robertson Geo Services successfully carried out a 10-week project for Gardline onboard the Kommandor Susan at the Five Estuaries Offshore Wind Farm, located approximately 37km off the south Suffolk coast. This site is an extension of the existing Galloper Offshore Wind Farm, adding 128km² to its area and generating enough energy annually to power hundreds of thousands of homes.
For this project, RG deployed their PS Logger® and 3-Arm Caliper probes across five boreholes, each ranging from 60m to 80m in depth. Despite challenging ground conditions and strong currents, their engineers delivered high-quality data by logging the PS Logger® at 0.5m intervals and ensuring overlaps between 5m casing pulls.
Equipment Highlights:
PS Logger®: Measures compressional and shear wave velocities in soils and rocks with reliable high-resolution P and S wave data, even in depths up to 600m. Its indirect excitation method provides accurate in-situ velocity profiles, critical for calculating formation stiffness and optimizing foundation designs.
3-Arm Caliper Probe (with natural gamma):Offers detailed borehole profiles, identifying weaker zones through cavitation or wall rugosity, and acts as a QC check for PS Logger® data.
